Meet me – also known as Isobel… Here is a little bit more about my journey.
It’s not surprising that I ended up as Wellbeing Consultant specialising in women’s wellness.
Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been obsessed with healthy eating, wellness and particularly women’s issues. My mother had many sisters with various health problems that became worse from mid-life, this made me all too aware of the important link between a positive mindset, healthy food choices and wellness.
I used to spend hours at a time devouring health and lifestyle books and creating healthy recipes in the kitchen for the family.
Since, I discovered my passion for women’s wellness, life has been something of an adventure. In my 20s I qualified and worked as a Fitness Instructor and Weight Management Consultant. I’ve invested heavily in my training and worked for over 18 years as a Wellbeing Consultant specialising in:
+ Weight Management
+ Neuro – Linguistic Programming (NLP)
+ Stress Management
+ Kinesiology and other modalities
I have also had the opportunity to work abroad for many years giving me the privilege of working with many wonderful women from all over the globe.
All of this has given me an in depth understanding of how people approach health and wellness, what makes them tick, the ability to figure out what’s really going on in a situation, and a whole lot of patience, understanding and empathy. Exactly what you need when you’re on a mission to help women navigate the middle years and beyond!
So what triggered me to become a Wellbeing Consultant?
The defining moment was when I applied my knowledge and expertise to the many clients I helped locally and globally. Watching them transform from feeling unbalanced, unhappy, unhealthy, frumpy, unattractive, and lacking in confidence; to being happy, healthy, fit, well and full of vitality was incredibly rewarding.
I knew and understood what women in mid-life and beyond were going through. I knew because I have been there too. I didn’t always feel fabulous, happy or great, and as I hit my 40s – my body and hormones began to change and I realised that what worked in my youthful years no longer gave the same results.
My body began redistributing weight and for the first time I was gaining weight around the middle. My hormones gave me the gift of wild fluctuations of mood resulting in moments of feeling angry, irritable, and intolerant. Not a joy to be with! Flushes would appear in the most inconvenient of situations. Perhaps this is all beginning to sound familiar to you?
I was lucky to have many tools in my toolbox and I applied many of them to myself with amazing success. I also knew where to find the right support and information.
I realised that my purpose in life was to help women and people transform their mindset and bodies and in the process take control of their lives.
What is Flourish Beyond 40?
